Athlete Profile- Charlie Quin

Brief Sport history? I began competing in triathlon as a Junior and fell in love with the sport. 10 years later I am now competing as a professional and still loving it.

What got you into the sport? My parents started doing triathlon and it looked like fun so I decided to have a go.

Upcoming 2022 events? ITU Oceania Sprint Triathlon Championships, ITU Oceania Cup New Plymouth, ITU Oceania Triathlon Championships

Favourite discipline? Run

Favourite training session? 4x 2000m on the track as 1600m tempo, 400m hard.

Do you have any History of Strength Training? I had done some strength work on and off since I started the sport, but had never stuck to a program for a consistent period of time.

What do you feel are the benefits of strength training? Injury reduction, increased overall strength and power. For triathlon I have found strength training helps with running off the bike and holding form when fatigued at the end of races.

How does strength training fit into your program? I do 2 strength sessions a week for 45min. I find these sessions are vital to keep my body strong and to reduce injury.

Favourite strength exercise? Deadlift.
